Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has urged fans to trust him and said the team is improving under him.

The 45-year-old Italian saw some fans boo his side as the Blues trailed at home to Ipswich on Sunday as they came from behind to draw 2-2.

After the game, the coach accused the สมัครสมาชิก UFABET วันนี้ รับเครดิตฟรีทุกวัน fans of creating an environment that forced the team to lose their way, amid criticism of their tactics, playing style and stubbornness in playing from the back.

Asked if he believes his football can entertain Chelsea fans, Maresca replied: “I can’t play in a different style.”

“The message is that with the fans behind us, we are the better team. I understand that as a team we have to engage with our fans. That’s not something we can do on Sunday, especially in the 20 or 25 minutes. We also have to play well enough to engage our fans.”

One of Chelsea’s pre-season targets was to qualify for the Champions League, but Sunday’s draw left the club sixth in the Premier League table.

With the top five teams now qualifying for Europe’s top club competitions, Maresca is looking to continue his record as Chelsea manager, adding: “I think we have proven this season (that we are progressing), even if sometimes it is difficult to see from the outside.”

“In the last two years, Chelsea have never been in the top four, but this season we have been in the top four for almost the whole season. I don’t know why, I wasn’t here last season or two years ago. I don’t judge the season just this season.”

“But I think the fans have to trust us, the team and what the club is doing at the moment because if in the last two seasons Chelsea were not in the top four, this season Chelsea have been in the top four for most of the year. That’s important evidence that the team is improving and doing the right things.”

“For me, is that enough? No, because I want to fight for the title, fight for the Premier League and the Champions League.”
